NEW BFG POLICY GOES LIVE 1ST JUNE 2003 <back
Underwritten by Groupama Insurance Company Ltd the scheme will be the first new UK motor insurance policy for the Forces in Germany for over 25 years.
“The new scheme tries to solve many of the problems identified by Service personnel serving in Germany and is a welcome addition to the limited facilities currently available” said Keith Frampton co-ordinator of the new scheme.
The policy is BFG approved and carries all the normal features you would expect to see from a major UK insurer plus full cover across the European Union.
“Considerable research was conducted into the requirements of personnel serving in Germany and a final panel of 100 Service men and women were selected to participate in an in-depth review of their current insurance policy, the alternatives available and their particular wants” Keith explained. As a result the policy covers many features that some others don’t include such as theft cover throughout Europe and Protected No Claims Bonus.
On the other hand they have made some features optional so that you don’t have to have them if you don’t want them. “Many of our respondents resented having to take Roadside Assistance with the policy when they already had the cover provided by the manufacturer when the car was purchased,” said Keith.
“Price was also an issue,” said Keith. “With some companies increasing their average premiums by over 100% in the last five years we were not surprised at the response and our research indicates that the new premiums charged by Groupama will be much more realistic.”
